The Reason for this Blog

Many sectors in the Philippines and abroad are pushing the Philippine legislature to pass the Reproductive Health and Population Development Act of 2008, better known as the Reproductive Health Bill (H.B. 5043). This bill contains provisions contrary to Roman Catholic teaching and the traditional moral and social values of the Filipino people.
The proposed bill can be found here:
This blog is an attempt to put in one place all the position papers, statements and declarations that have been published by Catholics and other Christians (in the Philippines and across the world) to counter the proponents of this proposed bill. It is important that the supporters of "reproductive health" realize that the position of the Catholic Church against this bill is based neither on "unreasoning dogmatism" nor upon "fear of progress", but upon a clear analysis of the real reasons for poverty and the social ills often wrongly attributed to alleged "overpopulation", as well as on a lucid understanding of transcendent moral principles and of health facts that are often suppressed in favor of propaganda for contraception.
I know that it's quite late in the day, but as of today (June 2009) there are projected moves to continue pushing for the passage of the RH Bill before the next elections and I feel that the best way to contribute to the cause of human life would be to make available ALL major position papers, open declarations and statements versus the RH Bill..

  1. This is an excellent collection. I will be posting it on FaceBook, Twitter, and on my blog as well. We need such resources to help other faithful Catholics and pro-lifers in their fight against this abortion-promoting (through abortifacient contraceptives), coercive, and oppressive bill. God bless you!!!
